Flint Strikes

I'm familiar with Homer Eon Flint's work from the original magazines and the Ace reprints, so I was glad to find this e-collection. What makes this edition special for his fans is the inclusion of a biographical memoir by Flint's granddaughter, in which she addresses his life, his work and his mysterious death, which has plagued the memory of his fans for so long. While it doesn't offer any definitive answers about his death, it does raise many questions. Aside from his death, the essay is heartfelt and well-written and will surely leave a lasting impression on the reader. Although much of Flint's work is now extremely dated (he was one of the first science fiction writers) his stories are still engaging and vibrant.

Enjoyable early 20th Century SF

I really enjoyed these stories written by early 20th Century author Homer Flint. Most were science fiction, with good attention to engineering and scientific detail - at least for the 1900s. A few were of the romance-adventure variety, such as one about a young woman selling a theft-proof automobile lock, and two inheritance stories involving very unusual stipulations. The stories are well written, with well drawn characters and interesting plots. Several are book length. Recommended.
