A hot read, but not much depth

This is the story of Tristan, an Omega wolf. In this series the Omega wolf shifters are treated as property by their packs and sold or "put under contract" by their families to other packs willing to pay. At the very beginning of the story Tristan is being prepared to be taken by the Alpha and his inner circle in front of the entire pack. It was a disturbing scene. But getting past that we are confronted with a new problem.

From reading first chapter, it becomes clear that the Alpha and both his Betas are going to be Tristan's mate. So now we've gone from one on one mates, tri-mates, and now quad-mates. And the story is also told entirely in the POV of Tristan. We get little insight to any of the other mates, their fellings, of why they bought Tristan's contract.

The sex is very hot and well written, but without much emotion or depth. I think the story could have been very, very good. If we'd had a much longer story and insight into the minds of Alpha Jared and the Betas Cameron and Rhyce. With 4 mates, we need more information and a reason to care about each one. Rhyce is only memorable for ordering Tritan around(we have no idea it's out of love), Cameron is a blank slate even at the end. Only Rhyce treats Tristan as a person and asks him out on a date, but even he seems distant and cold.

It's a new series, but I really think the author needs to think beyond the sexual aspect of the characters.

A fun, short read

Tristan was exactly what it promised to be, a fun, short read, filled with hot werewolves and lots of well written, steamy guy on guy (on guy on guy!) sex. There was just the right blend of angst, fluff and substance to make it the perfect short novel.

My only complaint is that I would have loved it to be a littke longer... but then again, sometimes it's nice to dive into something that you can read in a day or two. Definitely worth the price of the download. I'm looking forward to exploring more of Ms. Flynn's work.

Werewolf omega swept into a menage

Tristan is the first of the prolific "Resistant Omega" books, introducing the series theme about how abused omega werewolves can find rescue, safety, acceptance, steam and love in the arms of an "inner circle" of buff, tough, and dominant wolves. In this first installment, Tristan's story sets the scene for both the precarious and difficult role of an omega wolf in this society as well as how four men quickly can explore and build a complex, four-way relationship, both emotionally and (especially) physically. The characters are interesting and diverse, although the short length (and perhaps a focus on heated encounters) limits the depth of their development. Overall, I very much enjoyed this relatively simplistic but generally very entertaining story that including plenty of heat as well as a nice diversity of characters, the tension of a young/at-risk wolf being claimed by multiple stronger and and dominant partners. However, I also found some of the dialog to be a simplistic rush through complex, emotional conflicts and reactions, something that weakens the intriguing story of men trying to make a four-way relationship work.

Readers who can forgive sometimes overblown relationship conflicts and/or stilted dialog, but who are interested in werewolf menage (a quatre) relationships and/or in the rescue of "weak" and/or abused wolves by strong, dominant men may find this series to be quite entertaining.

The paranormal/werewolf aspects of the setting are not heavily explored in this book, but are important aspects to the background. Tristan lays the foundation for werewolf society in potential crisis and a underlying, long-term plot that slowly developed in subsequent books in this series. The second half of the book also introduces an interesting twist for Tristan, the initially fearful omega, with a surprising growth in his character that presages an underlying theme in the entire series.

I absolutely love the logic of this book's framework

We had several up-ending events in our family life this past year, and this financial guide from Jonathan Clements has been a godsend as we navigated the financial decisions involved. I absolutely love the logic of this book's framework. When I have a specific, urgent question, I can quickly get to the topic I need because of the way the book is organized by theme and sub-topics. In this regard, it differs from all other financial guidebooks I've read. But most important of all, to me, is that the author kept his familiar personal style (I subscribed to the WSJ for two decades mainly to be able to read Clements' weekly WSJ column). My favorite, favorite part of this book is the bit where, after explaining the logic of the advice given on a topic, Clements then includes a personal section on what he actually, in his real life, has done on the matter. Having followed this author's financial writings since the early 1990s, I can tell you that whenever I have diligently and patiently followed his lead, the results have been rewarding. And whenever I have given in to my emotional worries, and deviated from his clear logic, I've come to regret it. The other aspect of this book that is extremely helpful is the detailed teaching of complicated topics in a way that allows all of us regular people out here to truly understand the fundamentals that we have to grasp if we want to successfully manage our finances.

Easy amazing read for everybody. The sooner the better; this book has it all.

Wow, talk about an easy read. Mr. Clements really broke down the world of finances' into many different areas and keeps his explanations short and to the point. He even lets you know when a part of the book will have some boring math formulas so you can skim it if it's too much for you. Anyway the main reason for the purchase of this book was to find out about social security, its new rule and when the best time to start drawing for my wife and me. This book gave many examples and on top of that gave a website that you can go to and with little information about your age and current income will tell you how much you will draw if you choose to draw at different ages. Yes, other sites do this but none of them factored in the best time for a lower earning spouse to draw on the higher earning spouses account. the site even calculated the difference you will make by drawing at different ages. Another great point for me was his advice on how to "Rebalance" my TSP. I did this and within 5 days earned over $5,000.00. My account balance has been rising daily. This book covers almost everything and the best part is that it is done in very short sections that gets the reader attention quickly and keeps it for the entire section. He even starts out by telling you how to navigate the book. There are many referrals to different companies and websites for further information. I was able to come up with several categories I was interested in and made a list of different websites to go to for more info or to possibly purchase financial products. I would recommend this book to everyone, trust me it covers anything you can think of when it comes to finances. I'm giving one to my 17 year old granddaughter. A Practical Financial Guru has Reappeared

I followed Jonathan Clements for many years through his Wall St. Journal (WSJ) column. In my opinion he had the clear straightforward answers to everyday financial questions that everyone encounters. I lost a compass for my financial life when he left the WSJ and I was so happy to see that he has reappeared with his Money Guide series. Now I have a single reference guide to pull off of my shelf when I have a question about a financial issue. This is far more effective than trying to locate the appropriate yellowing WSJ clipping that I have kept on file over the years.

How much do I treasure Mr. Clements' advice? Well, my son graduated from college last spring and he now has enough money to make his first stock investment. He conferred with me over the past few days about how to go about making the best decision. Once we had talked through what he should do and he had made a decision he placed a trading order. He then asked me whether I could recommend a book that he could consult to get further advice. I pulled my copy of "Money Guide 2016" from my desk, held it up to my video conference camera, and told him that I would order a copy for him as soon as we finished our video conference. I did.

As you might have guessed, my investing advice was heavily influenced by years of following the insights and recommendations of Jonathan Clements. I recommend that you avail yourself of his knowledge as well.

Really excellent book

I read this little book the first time almost 30 years ago upon the recommendation of a very well known chess book seller. While I didn't totally understand it all, I faithfully read it trying to absorb all I could.

I noticed it on my shelf recently and pondered whether it justified a re-read nearly 700 rating points later. After wrestling with the question ( I mistakingly believed it had nothing further to offer) for some time- I decided to give it my attention for a couple of weeks. I attempt to re-read every one of my many chess books periodically to see what I can soak up at each new level of understanding.

I have not been disappointed. While it is old, and in descriptive ( get over it now! It takes all of about ten minutes to figure out descriptive and there are still a large number of worthwhile books on the market written in DN) it contains ideas, principles, and general guidelines that guide even the openings of today.

Knosko-borovsky's writing is pretty much timeless in my opinion.

You are not going to find the dozen different variations currently considered playable in the Sicilian dragon Yugoslav attack on the 15th move here, but you are going to find chess truth that will guide you for many years to come no Matter what you play.

If you are ready to actually understand something rather than just memorize lists of moves (some of which will be outdated by the time you read this review) get this book!

As good as any

This book was originally written in 1935. It is in descriptive notation (P-K4), 141 pages plus 7 pages of solutions to the 36 questions scattered through it.

As its title suggests, it is about the general principles behind the different openings. The explanations are clear and easy to follow, and as good as any I've seen. It keeps things simple and doesn't list dozens of complex variations that would overwhelm a beginner. The fact that it is only $8 is icing on the cake. Recommended!

I find only minor shortcoming for this sort of book. Algebraic notation would be better these days, but we have only the laziness of the publisher to blame for that. Descriptive notation should not deter a potential reader - it is no harder to learn than learning how a knight moves! The modern and hypermodern lines do not get coverage proportional to their current popularity. When the book was written, Alekhine's defence was new on the scene, and it got 3 pages. The Sicilian got 4 pages.

Chess openings is a very difficult subject for beginners. When does the opening end and the middlegame start? How do I know that at the end of a given variation there are "about equal chances" or that "white has a slight advantage"? For general principles, this book is exactly what a beginner needs. For specific variations and their detailed analysis, things that only a serious chess player would worry about, one needs books that specialize in one opening or only one line (e.g. Sicilian Najdorf). To stay current, one needs the Chess Informant. The trouble with such books is that they get outdated very quickly. These days a better option is a computerized database, possibly with a subscription service to stay current. Computers have changed the way an advanced player studies openings. But the beginner still needs a book like this one. For a more modern introduction, with algebriac notation, I recommend Seirawan's book "Winning Chess Openings", ISBN 1857443497. It is thicker at 250 pages, but is easy to read.
No single book will convert you from a beginner to a master - only hard work can do that. However, each book you read will put a little more wind in your sail.

Amazing book for all chess players!

This book is one of the best books that have been published on chess openings. The main principle that is taught throughout the book is the concepts of each opening, like in the classic sicilian, control of the center is a strong concept which can change the whole game upside down if you don't have it. Weaknesses are explained for each opening and the author tells you how to exploit these weaknesses like never seen before! this book is for people who follow the strong foundations of chess, it's theory. The book is based off of old notation which can be difficult for lazy learners, but it is self explanatory if you try. This book may be based off some of the older theories that are the foundations of the present theories.

I found this just an amazing book: insightful, wise, and warm, just like a character Charlie Sheen might play at some point in his colorful career, assuming he's not on meth or crack or having orgies. Matt Dukes Jordan is an incredible writer and frankly, seems to be somehow channeling this very talented man's higher self, writing and revealing an inner depth and intelligence that previously was unknown to America and may in fact be Charlie Sheen's true personality, if he was in fact able to project himself into Matt Dukes Jordan's head.

There error book isn't available on amazon must order from renniks with $22.50 shipping to US $29.95 for book. Book is more special issue and paper money book. If interested in old coins don't waste your money.Just look in your world coin book. There books have nice quality paper and printing, great color. preordered 6 weeks ago received in mail today.

This Product does not cover all Commemorative coins issued by the Australian Governments Mints. It's ok but they can do better. Don't get me wrong what coins were in the book gave a very descriptive product overview. But also the price for coins should be included at the different values from MS 60 to MS 70 as well as from PR 60 to PR 70. They have a lot of room for improvement unless it's about Quantity instead of Quality.
