This is a great book, clear and easy to read. Gives a good outline of process control but somewhat dated content. Still a valuable reference book on the subject.

About the Author
Bradrick A. Joyner was born on April 2nd, 1988, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Aside from writing and lecturing, he is a Father, musician, philosopher, and an active Freemason. Bradrick attended Middle Tennessee State University where he studied The Recording Industry: Productions and Technologies, then later on became a certified Pro-Tools Operator in Music. This gave him the fulfilling opportunity to work as a professional musician and audio engineer. Shortly after the birth of his son in 2011, Bradrick decided to transition from music into the world of writing. In 2014, he published his first book titled: "Ethics, Deductions, & Common Sense." Since then, Bradrick has been requested to speak at over 50 engagements, with topics ranging from Traditional Occult History and Philosophy, Comparative Religion, Freemasonry, Meditation, Tarot, Moral Psychology, Theosophy, and more. Bradrick's writing has been described as "energetic" and "concise." His ability to explain in-depth concepts with ease while keeping his readers and listeners engaged makes for a rare and satisfying experience. An excellent guide. A must have.

I had the opportunity of reading this book prior to its release. Brother Joyner does an excellent job of weaving the spiritual and esoteric elements of Freemasonry into a succinct narrative that is easy to consume. The clarity of his delivery enables the reader to understand and contemplate the jewels of our Craft without going off the deep end of the mystical pond.

This is an excellent guide for Masons, young and old.

Great book for a new EA as well a someone that is beginning or revisiting Masonic education. This is a quick but good read that does a wonderful job of stimulating further questions and encouraging deeper thought.

Absolutely outstanding interpretation and explanation

This short read is an absolutely outstanding interpretation and explanation of the initiation ritual of an Entered Apprentice into the Craft of Masonry. I read it in less than a day. The author's writing style in short, crisp sentences, as opposed to long-winded, academic verbiage, makes the explanation of concepts and symbols completely understandable. I especially liked the part on creative visualization. As a Mason of ten years, I found more insight in this short book than I have in any Lodge program. The author even explains why Lodges are lacking in this education within these pages! I highly recommend this book by Brother Joyner to any new EA or any Master Mason still trying to figure out how to map his personal journey. I rank The Masonic Initiate right up there with another of my favorite books on deciphering Masonic origins: The Craft Unmasked by Brother Dr. John Nagy. Looking forward to reading your upcoming books on the next two degrees, Brother Joyner!

The best book I've seen on flames and heat for designing

I have been working in this field for 50 years but hadn't seen this book until last week - a 1975 edition. I Xeroxed most of the tables and a few explanations, but am looking forward to receiving the updated (2 volume?) set. You could find the same data in Perry, Rubber Handbook etc., and in a dozen commercial catalogues, but here is is all in one place with examples of how to use it.

About the Author
Ola W. Barnett is a Distinguished Professor Emerita of Psychology at Pepperdine University, Malibu, California.� She earned her undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Psychology at UCLA, specializing in Learning.� Her initial research centered on batterers, and she later studied battered women and dating violence.� She has coauthored two best-selling Sage books (with Alyce D. LaViolette) on why battered women stay with abusive partners.� These books provide a scientific explanation, grounded in learning theory, for understanding the obstacles battered women face in trying to break free.� She remains active in the field of family violence by reviewing articles for a large number of journals and performing as an external grant reviewer for a few organizations.� She serves on the editorial board of the new journal, Youth Violence and Juvenile Justice.� She also continues research on the impact of transitional housing on the lives of battered women.

Cindy L. Miller-Perrin is currently Professor of Psychology and Blanche E. Seaver Professor of Social Science at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. She is also a clinical child psychologist and has worked with developmentally delayed, maltreated, and other troubled children and their families. She has coauthored three books, including Child Sexual Abuse: Sharing the Responsibility (with S. Wurtele, 1992), Child Maltreatment: An Introduction (with R. Perrin, Sage, 1999, 2007), and Family Violence Across the Lifespan (with O. Barnett & R. Perrin, Sage 1997, 2005, 2011). She is also the author or coauthor of numerous articles and book chapters on topics including child sexual abuse prevention, perceptions associated with child maltreatment, family violence, and psychology and religion. She enjoys teaching and researching with undergraduates and is the recipient of the 2008 Howard A. White Award for Teaching Excellence. She received her doctorate from Washington State University.

Robin D. Perrin is currently Professor of Sociology at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. His research interests and publications are in the areas of interpersonal violence, deviance theory, the social construction of social problems, and the sociology of religion. He is the coauthor of three books: Social Deviance: Being, Behaving, and Branding (with D. Ward & T. Carter, 1991), Child Maltreatment: An Introduction (with C. Miller-Perrin, Sage, 1999; 2007), and Family Violence Across the Lifespan (with O. Barnett & C. Miller-Perrin, Sage, 1997, 2005; 2011). He is the author or coauthor of numerous articles on a variety of topics related to religion, deviance, and interpersonal violence. He is the recipient of the 2004 Howard A. White Award for Teaching Excellence. He received his doctorate in sociology from Washington State University in 1989. Following his doctoral studies he was Assistant Professor of Sociology at Seattle Pacific University in Seattle, Washington.

Great Text, but Needs a Full Semester

This was purchased for a social work summer class at my university. It will keep you reading. The information is invaluable and statistics are abundant. An ideal addition to my library for future reference. But, as I said, it will keep you busy reading in a ten week summer course. I recommend using it for a full semester course.
