If you liked book one and two, do yourself a favor and don't read this.

It goes from good to bad to worse in the last parts and it's such a disappointment.
The author leads you think that this book would be different to all the others books with LGBT+ main characters.
It's not.
To think I was excited to read this. I ended up hating it.

I'm all for different endings that aren't anything like you thought would happen. but this book somehow took the twist ending and made it feel extremely sad and I personally felt let down. I wasn't sure if I loved or hated it because I didn't really see the characters personality ever doing something like this. But to each their own I guess

O Ricky your so Fine!

Another great story by Ashley John! I laughed, I cried because Ricky broke my heart but then Chase mended it! This is such a sweet story I am so glad Ricky got his happy ending with Chase. Ricky is definitely a character you loved to hate in Timing but once you find out his back story and why he is so jaded you can't help but feel for him. Chase was so sweet right from the start he worked hard and fought for what he wanted and I am so glad he didn't give up it would have been so easy. Awesome read can't wait for more from you Ashley you always write such good stories!

This book stole my heart!

I have loved everything I’ve read by Ashley John and I can definitely now add Ricky to my loved list! There was something so special and touching about this story and I just loved every minute, even when he had me in tears!

Ricky, oh I feel like I need to enter a sigh after I say his name, he is such a powerful character, not an instantly loveable one, he’s definitely got some attitude, but he’s a strong one indeed. He doesn’t believe in love anymore or for that matter seeing anyone more than once. After the death of his fiancé years earlier, he believes love only leads to pain. He has his friends, his work and Miss Kitty Litter, his drag persona to keep him happy. Until one night in a dark alley he is beaten and left for dead.

Chase is a single father, he co-owns a gym with his brother and isn’t quite sure where he falls when it comes to his sexuality. He enjoys being with men but pictures himself settling down with a woman, mostly for his son’s sake. It doesn’t help that his homophobic dad, his brother and his crazy wife are all trying to push him into finding a woman. He does go out to the gay bars when he can, usually for a quick hook up, until one night in an alley he discovers someone who’s been badly beaten. He calls for help and stays with this person in the hospital, trying to help Ricky recover.

There is so much emotion in this story and I really felt it all. Ricky is not an easy character to just love, he’s snarky and bitter and always puts himself first. But, as I started to see the softer side of him, the side that is still in pain, I was rooting for him and wanting him to let other in and be loved again. Chase completely stole my heart right from the start! He’s a very sweet guy who loves his adorable son and just wants to give him the best life he can provide! These two start off forming a friendship as Chase tries to help Ricky and it quickly becomes more. They definitely seem like an unlikely pair but my heart was totally invested in these two, they just worked for me.

There really is a lot to this story, a lot of emotion that both Ricky and Chase have to sort through and experiences that will shape their relationship. I loved watching them open up to each other and then yes wanted to throw things at Ricky when his stubbornness took over! Ricky has a good amount of angst, but not too much, I never did want to give up on these two. I absolutely adored the way this story came together in the end and was proud of both Chase and Ricky for standing up and loving themselves and each other.

Ricky is another beautiful and heart stealing book from Ashley John that will definitely stay with me! I cannot recommend this book enough and am truly looking forward to whatever comes next!

Kathryn Best is a designer, consultant, educator and author. Kathryn's current research interest is in the potential of design and design thinking as a tool for innovation and change in the context of business, society, culture and the environment.

Fantastic Guide, Great Value for Money.

I found the book's interdisciplinary approach to design management enlightening and refreshing. The author offers discussion, ideas and examples through case studies which I found useful when looking at product design, services and the business environment. This would be useful to anyone who designs or works within a company using design.
The layout of the book is fantastic for students; you are able to dip in and out of each relevant section with ease. The layout, use of images/tables/charts, and colour coding of pages also really helps. This is really useful when you're trying to reach a deadline and working under pressure. I can imagine this is also useful when working in a practice.
Each area of discussion in the book is filled with case studies, which I found really useful for putting the discussions into context. The examples are `of the moment' and international in variety. I found this really encouraged me to think outside the box. These case studies are clarified in relevance by the author who consistently uses leading specialists in each area.
For someone who knew little about the subject before reading, I found the language and form of the chapters easily comprehendible. Although I have to say that as I researched the subject further I found this title was still the one I returned to most. I think this was partly because of its ease of use. All in all I think this is an excellent value for money book. You truly get every penny's worth.

Easy to understand informative book

The book explains terms used in the design industry/ business and explains the connection between different sectors of design, business etc so we can understand their relationship and how they work together. Examples of the topic are given for example in the form of case studies of people/ companies throughout the globe eg. Zipcar (alternative to car owning) and talks about why the business is attractive to customers and from an environmental point of view, the user experience etc.

The book also talks about many other topics eg. how emotional design and other methods draw people to purchase an object or encourage users to utilise a service, and also what make it user friendly to interact with and enjoyable to use. Having done Product Design at university we studies this and I found it interesting. Another topic is a list of project planning areas and also reasons why projects fail.

The information in this book is vast but split into chapters and clearly set out so it's easy to read and understand. I think this is a useful tool for anyone in the creative industries and is an enjoyable and informative read with colourful images and diagrams. Even someone who studied a design field before can learn something valuable from this book.

Reads like a PowerPoint presentation...

This book is a challenge. Each paragraph, although having technically well-written sentences, reads like a text slide from a presentation. The case examples feel like ads and the designer profiles are tepid continuations of the main text itself. The book doesn't really say anything of value to the reader; it never takes a position or takes you on a journey. The content itself is largely akin to an anthropologist just describing simplistic parts of the whole (i.e. that being design exists in business and vice versa) without any judgment or perspective. There is little to no take away, no perspective or voice, and you'll find yourself asking not what, but if, you had read anything the paragraph prior. It's not that this book is bad, it's just not anything: informational, useful, engaging, insightful, driven, inspiring. None of them. Look elsewhere to develop or be informed. Good luck!

Makes learning the essentials of business law clear and easy

I enjoyed this book! So much so that the one I'm selling here is an extra copy (I ordered one that didn't get to me in time so I had to buy another one). I learned a lot and will refer to it in the future. This is a great book for business majors as well as anyone that does not have a law background but will need the knowledge for Public Policy, International Relations, etc. Good information those who would like to start their own business, too.

I Actually Took the Author's Class!! Awesome Book. Easy Read.

I actually took Professor Cheeseman's BUAD 403 Legal Environment class at the University of Southern California! He's the funniest and most interesting professor I've ever had. Read the Haiku at the beginning of the book. It's bizarre until you know his past; then it's hailarious. Cheeseman is a brilliant man. After serving in the Army during Vietnam, he's earned 6 degrees!

This book weighs a ton, but its not some heavy text on legal theory. This book is made for the student. He does all the work for you by breaking everything down. He even puts concept summaries in the margins for you procastinators that cram. The book is not only informative, its entertaining. He explains all concepts with real-life cases. The case studies in the book are the most interesting part. I learned so much from this book. Especially the part on contract law. I feel sorry for people who have no idea how contracts surround our lives. For example when I send out my credit card # on Amazon I'm electronically putting my signature on a click-wrap contract and now subject to the numerous integrated reference clauses I don't see under Amazon. I personally feel much safer with this knowledge and I can thank this book for that. I really wish you guys could sit in on his lectures. You'd spend 2 hours every week laughing. But if you can't, this book is a great substitute.

Must be the best business law book out there!

Rich in content, comprehensive, and very user-friendly. Presentation is excellent. Use of color, diagrams and boxes sets it apart from the majority of law books which are nothing more than 1000 pages of black and white text. The auhor also has a very well-chosen set of cases for the reader to see the legal process in practice. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT, it is a MUST for any student of law or as a reference for a business owner.

About the Author

Dr. Efraim Turban (M.B.A., Ph.D., University of California, Berkeley) is a visiting scholar at the Pacific Institute of Information System Management, University of Hawaii. Prior to this, he was on the staff of several universities, including City University of Hong Kong; Lehigh University; Florida International University; California State University, Long beach; Eastern Illinois University; and the University of Southern California. Dr. Turban is the author of more than 110 refereed papers published in leading journals, such as Management Science, MIS Quarterly, International Journal of Electronic Commerce, Journal of MIS and Communication of the ACM. He is also the author of 22 books, including Electronic Commerce: A Managerial Perspective, Business Intelligence, Decision Support Systems and Information Technology for Management. He is also a consultant to major corporations and universities worldwide. Dr. Turban's current interest is social commerce. He is the co-editor of 2011/2012 special issue on the topic in the International Journal of Electronic Commerce and the author of several related papers in referred journals.

Dr. Judy Strauss is Associate Professor of Marketing, emerita at the University of Nevada, Reno. She is an international speaker, seminar leader, entrepreneur, and previous Marketing Director of two companies. She is an award-winning author of 4 books (in 14 editions) and numerous scholarly articles on internet marketing topics, co-authoring Radically Transparent: Monitoring and Managing Reputations Online and E-Marketing―the first textbook on internet marketing (translated into Japanese and Chinese). At UNR she taught marketing communication, international marketing, internet marketing and strategy topics―including co-advising the national winners in the AAF National Student Advertising Competition. She still teaches an online Principles of Marketing course and in Germany: Brand Management. She has won two teaching awards

and a lifetime achievement in marketing award from the American Marketing Association. Strauss earned a doctorate in marketing at Southern Illinois University, and finance MBA and marketing BBA at University of North Texas.

Dr. Linda Lai has been an associate professor at the Macao Polytechnic Institute of China since September 2006. Prior to her current position, she undertook remits as academic and administrator at the City University of Hong Kong for 15 years. She had also worked as a business professional in Hong Kong and England for more than six years. Dr. Lai holds two research degrees from Lancaster University, UK - one in the area of IT applications and the other focusing on wider management issues. Her research interests include decision science, knowledge management and electronic commerce. Dr. Lai has published more than 40 high impact articles and a book on Chinese e-business entrepreneurship within recent years.

A graceful integration of philosophy and personal experience

This is one of my favorite books of all time.
Vicki Hearne - animal trainer, poet, and philosopher - talks about her relationship with the working animals she trains. She presents her philosophies by illustrating them with stories of animals she has trained.
If you have deep respect for animal intelligence, this book will confirm and deepen your beliefs.
Training, she says, is the creation of a shared language. But language has many ambiguities. For example, trainers haven't a clue what the world smells like to a dog, for whom "scenting" is a primary sense. Yet humans and dogs can learn to work together across the gap of their differences by coming to share the vocabulary of trained scent work.
Animal training, says Hearne, is as challenging for the trainer as it is for the animal. Trainers must learn humility, and learn to communicate in new ways. For example, horses take in information through touch and are extremely sensitive to the motions of the rider. Once a trainer comes to understand this (and other things about horses), she or he can begin to understand the way a horse understands its world and its self.
Of course I don't do justice to the book by summarizing a few of its philosophical points! Hearne writes gracefully, and shows a great mastery of a variety of disciplines - psychology, philosophy, literature, animal training. Her anecdotes make the philosophy much easier to understand, and the philosophy makes the implications of the anecdotes much richer.

Other nations

Re: the "near drowning" of the hole-digging dog, here's how Vicki describes it: "I put Salty's head in the Hole. She emerges quite quickly (she's a very strong, agile dog)." This is not waterboarding; it's getting the dog's attention. I would not try this method myself, as I am not a trainer. (Vicki warns us we "can't work a dog" from her writings.) Neither would I let this description turn me away from a wise, courageous and ultimately compassionate book about intraspecies communication.

As an ex-vet. tech., I've seen what happens when people and animals don't talk the same language: the animals suffer. When they inconvenience their "loving" owners enough, the animals die. Chapter 8, "The Sound of Kindness," should be required reading for all pet owners.

Other parts of this book soar and inspire with their deep respect for what the relationship between humans and animals should be. It is because of this that we must take responsibility for what we do to and with companion animals. As Henry Beston had it, "They are not bretheren, they are not underlings; they are other nations, caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners in the splendor and travail of the earth."

An exquisite book about animals and humans

Vicki Hearne is both an animal trainer and an assistant professor of philosophy at Yale. With these two qualifications, she addresses the relationship humans have with "dumb" domestic animals, primarily dogs, horses and cats. he book is exquisite, and confirms what we already "know, that animals can think, feel, respond, and--in a sense--make decisions about how to respond to humans. She proves the intelligence of the horse trainer who admitted there were truly "crazy" horses whose indsanity justified their destrucrtion, but that if any trainer had experienced more than one such horse, the trainer should be put to sleep instead. The chapter on cats is a little fuzzy, but the rest is five-star.
